What is a QR authentication app?

A QR authentication app is an app on your phone that helps prove that you are really you when you sign in to a website.

Here’s how it usually works:

1. The website shows you a QR code on the screen.
2. You open an authentication app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
3. You use the app to scan the QR code.
4. The app connects your account to your phone.
5. The app then gives you a 6-digit security code that changes every 30 seconds or so.
6. When the website asks for an authentication code, you enter the code shown in the app.

We recommend using the Google Authenticator app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
