Q: What is MFA?

MFA stands for Multi-Factor Authentication. It adds an extra layer of security by requiring an additional verification step beyond your password. During the Set Your Vector registration process, you can use one of two verification methods: <ul> <li>SMS – Receive a verification code by text message. This option is currently available only for phone numbers registered in the United States or Canada.</li> <li>TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password) – Use an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, to generate a verification code.</li> </ul> If your phone number is registered outside the US or Canada, do not enter a phone number during registration. Use TOTP instead. If you have already added an ineligible phone number to your account, the quickest resolution is to create a new account, leave the phone number blank, and use TOTP.

Question 4

What is a QR authentication app?

Accepted Answer

A QR authentication app is an app on your phone that helps prove that you are really you when you sign in to a website.

Here’s how it usually works:

The website shows you a QR code on the screen.
You open an authentication app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
You use the app to scan the QR code.
The app connects your account to your phone.
The app then gives you a 6-digit security code that changes every 30 seconds or so.
When the website asks for an authentication code, you enter the code shown in the app.

We recommend using the Google Authenticator app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
